Hi An,
I was genuinely surprised by how similar the style in the SQE exam was to the questions in Law Drills. There were times during revision where I felt the AI was asking things in an over-complicated or convoluted way. For example, it might offer a paragraph of text suggesting one kind of question before asking something completely different.
However, when it came to the actual exam the SRA actually write questions like that. My other question banks and revision materials just did not prepare me for how lengthy the questions can be, but thankfully Law Drills did.
Outside of the core areas, the exam also threw curveballs in terms of the areas where they will ask questions. You imagine something is too obscure but it turns out the SRA will ask about it— which means you are unlikely to be fully prepared for all of it. The strength of Law Drills was that it does have some more niche areas mixed in so you get to practice how to approach surprise questions.
SQE1 is a tough exam and preparing for it is rough. I picked Law Drills because I was looking for the law equivalent to a question bank medical students use called PassMed. I needed a question bank for the SQE that offered something similar in terms of size and statistics. Law Drills was the only thing that came close and offered enough feedback data across subjects.
Also, the weekly emails encouraging students to keep going and sharing statistics/number of questions to tackle per week were really nice.

“I found PracticeWorks extremely useful in the run up to SQE1 exams. I was fortunate to be able to access practice MCQs from a range of different providers and in the two weeks leading up to the exams, I didn’t want to simply re-do tests. I found Practice Works and enjoyed doing full tests in timed conditions, but also being able to hone in on specific topic areas in accordance with the spec. No other provider provides this level of specificity and allowed me to identify areas which needed more attention on a very granular level. I wish I had found Practiceworks earlier! I couldn’t sleep from stressing then doing a slew of quick fire questions reassured me enough to drop off. If I needed to work hard and had an hour or so, I could create a set of up to 50 MCQs. Nearer exam day, I did lots of full mocks, using it as training for the real thing. The AI created new questions at my choice of difficulty every time and gave several levels of feedback. “I stumbled across Practice Works a while ago and debated for a number of months whether to purchase. Although I haven’t sat the exam yet so cannot say how similar it is to the real thing, I can say it is a very good revision aid. I enjoy using this as a revision aid and I mainly stick to MCQ style questions as I feel the best way for me personally to prepare is by doing loads of mock questions. I also really like that you can pick the topics you want it to show, as I study two a day so I can specifically select those two topics to practice MCQs on.
