How do I pause a mock exam, or fix one that went wrong?

Pause and come back later

Choose Pause in the bar at the bottom of the mock. Your timer stops the moment you do, so nothing runs down while you are away.

It is safe to leave the page entirely while paused. You can use Back to set up, close the tab, or come back on another device. Your sitting shows as Continue in your mock list until you pick it up again, and choosing Resume restarts the clock with the time you had left.

Set your own time before you begin

Before a sitting starts you can change how long it gives you. On the screen showing the mock name and question count, edit the minutes in the box above the begin button, then begin.

On a full mock you get one box per part, Part 1 time (minutes) and Part 2 time (minutes). On a single-part mock there is one box, Time allowed (minutes).

Give yourself extra time if you are learning the format, or shorten it to practise under pressure. These fields are only editable before you begin, so set them while you are on that screen.

If a sitting was interrupted

If your internet dropped, your browser crashed, or you closed the tab without pausing, the clock kept running while you were away. There is no way to wind it back yourself.

Tell us which mock it was and roughly when it happened, and we can sort the sitting out at our end.

The same goes for anything that looks plainly wrong, like a sitting stuck in the wrong state or a timer that does not match what you set. Tell us and we will fix it rather than leaving you to work around it.
